The corals were transplanted from coral fragments that were barely 3-4 inches long in July 2006 by a group of volunteer divers led by Homer Hernandez (NAUI # 17777), a marine biologist and dive instructor. Nearly 3 years later (March 2009), some of the corals have grown to about 1 meter wide. This reef is at around 20 to 30 feet depth in front of the lot of Mr. Jun Tesoro, who is one of the volunteer divers. The area is adjacent to Pier Uno Resort in Brgy. Solo, Mabini , Batangas. The technique employed can be used both for reef rehabilitation/enhancement or for establishing coral community in sandy areas where reef is absent.
