Death March Km Zero, Mariveles

This death march kilometer zero is one of the two starting points of the infamous death march, the other one being in Bagac, Bataan.. The march of the Filipino-American Prisoners-of-War started here on April 10, 1942. The historical plaque summarized in two languages the horrific ordeal of our
heroes.
How to get there:
Mariveles is the southernmost town in the Bataan Peninsula which is reached by taking the Roman Highway which features a wide shoulder from Layac Junction. The wide highway ends just before the road goes in an exciting downhill zigzag road which is dubbed as "bitukang-manok". The route passes
throuh the Bataan Economic Processing Zone before it reaches the Mariveles town proper.
The Death March kilometer zero monument serves as a welcome landmark upon reaching the town proper.
