In the Poblacion is a Barangay named Castillo. In that barangay stands the ruins of an old citadel/watch tower which the natives used as look out for incoming pirates and bandits ready to bring havoc and pillage the town, Below the hill where the citadel stood is the long shoreline along which the apparition of St. Paul appears warding off the pirates until they gave up on that town. It was also where I think, according to my lolo, guerrilleros went up to see if some Japanese soldiers were coming inland. The old citadel is I think now in total ruins not having seen it for a long time but I think that the previous barangay administration made some repairs/whatever, thinking that it had a "tourist destination" potential. Rehabilitation for that though, i think would need experts. My Pitogo is quaint but picturesque. On a clear day behind our house on a hill my father and I would sit beneath an old tamarind tree to look at the mystic silhouette of Mt. San Cristobal. When I was little, my best friends and I go up all the way to the top of the school building number 2 and gaze at the splendor of the view. Often my father would linger at the corner of the municipal playground I did not know why until lately I discovered that from there the sea looked so brilliantly blue and beautiful on a clear day. It looked peaceful and soothing and and the sea breeze so calming to the nerves no wonder my father never got so very angry.

Additional narratives or blogs:
Attached are photos of Pitogo, Quezon, our hometown, which my sister Cecile Uriarte wrote in her narrative for Wayspoints a few months before she left (Dec. 21 2008) to join my parents and our Creator. In her short narrative she describes our town Pitogo, Quezon as a potential tourist destination, being rich not only in cultural heritage but also having been blessed with natural and beautiful wonders, some, still untouched by human hands and are comparable to worlds grandest spots especially the shorelines….A place she wants to retire once she gets well and out of the hospital for a month in Nov. 2008 but did not materialize.
Thank you for giving her a place in this Website.
